Pilot Mountain Is Pretty Awesome

This was a nice experience for the kids because they haven't been to the mountains yet. I have been to Blue Ridge Mountains on the stop back from being at the Cherokee Casinos, but I never been to Pilot Mountain. I though this would be cool reward for the kids since they were all doing so well in school, but it was a surprise for them. Also it was a quick mini trip and only about 30 minutes from where we lived, which was great.

I tell ya, the view was unbelievable and we really lucked out on going on such a clear day with great weather. I want to try to take the kids again and at a earlier time so that we can walk around the mountain. We didn't get to do but a portion of a trail, but the park does give you a great deal of walking around. So if you are ever in NC, Pilot Mountain should be stop you should definitely make, especially in the fall while the leaves of the trees are changing colors.

Anyone having some aggrevating troubles with their appliances whether new or old? Well I thought I would post some helpful tips from throughout the month so that you can try to get that troublesome appliances going. I thought I would start out with tips on the washer and dryer.

Washing Machine: Prevent rupturing hoses

Over time, the water hoses that came with your new washing machine may leak or burst. It's a
good preventive maintenance practice to check these hoses from time to time for any sign of
wear or weakness. Often there's a small blister in the rubber of the hose, which could rupture.
Most manufacturers recommend replacing the hoses every 5 years. Note… If the hose ruptures,
large quantities of water could gush from the hose. If it's the hot water hose that ruptures, the
gushing hot water may scald anyone nearby. For more peace of mind, one alternative is to use
high quality stainless steel fill hoses that may offer a greater degree of protection.

Dryer: No heat

For both gas and electric dryers, the most common problem is usually a fully or partially clogged vent. So, you’ll want to check the dryer vent hose and ideally vacuum the lint out of the dryer (by removing the front dryer panel to gain access to the area beneath the dryer where the lint accumulates) to avoid a fire hazard. And if your electric dryer is not heating, the first thing to check are the fuses/breakers in your house fuse panel. There are two separate fuses/breakers
for your dryer and if one of the two should fail, it is possible for your dryer to run but not produce any heat.

I know, Halloween hasn't even past yet and there is still Thanksgiving to work on to, but I thought that I will be looking around and seeing what I can get started on for my kids gifts. Separation Anxiety

Oh, I think my little guy had separation anxiety earlier this week. When I went to pick him up on Tuesday afternoon, his teacher said that he was asking for me and crying a bit. I asked why was you crying, did you miss me and of course he shook his head yes. Then again yesterday he started tearing up when I was going to leave and didn't want to let go of my leg. It was a little heartbreaking, but I knew that he would be ok once he got the day started. When I asked how his day went, his teacher said after I left he was fine. She gave him a hug and he was on his way to playing with the other kids and other things they do during the day. So hopefully it won't be an everyday thing, which I'm sure it's not and it was just one of those days where he just wanted his mama.

I've talked about KO Guitar before, but I wanted to hear of what you guys think about the music. If you haven't heard about KO, his name is Kevin O'Connor that plays acoustic guitar and is a vocal artist. He has an album called 175 Cherry Lane by KO and it has been 7 years in the making. His music is about short stories of his life about his experiences upstate.

It is a rock album, but it isn't the ones that would probably come to you mind as KO's music is something that you can relax to and really enjoy like sitting outside on your porch swing with a nice breeze coming through. All Is Well So Far

So the kids and I have been in school for about a good three weeks now and everyone has been doing fine so far. My oldest is in 3rd grade this year and is starting on actually have grades when she turns in work/homework. Not the letter grades like S for satisfactory, U for unsatisfactory, etc. My second daughter is enjoying her class and teacher. When we went to open house, two days before school, we had to switch her teacher because, let's just say, we were having a bug in our ear on how that particular teacher doesn't do all that great, but we are comfortable with the teacher she has now. My son is doing wonderful in Pre-K. We thought that he may be little afraid on the first day, but he jumped right into doing the activities with the other kids while I was signing him in. The only thing is that he doesn't want to eat his lunch so I'm having to make sure to bring along a snack and juice box with me when I go get him.

As for me, it's going fine. I do have a class that will be quickly coming to an end in another 4 weeks since it is a fast track course, but I am enjoying it, although we have a writing assignment and have to talk about it due the next class meeting. I have noticed that I am getting more comfortable in speaking in front of the class (while still sitting at the table..lol), but I don't get nervous as much when I "have to" participate in discussions. Another class that I have is Stress Management and it's ok. I did like that the we worked out in the campus gym and I found that I like walking the treadmill so I may have to utilize that when I get some time. My other class is ok, although first part of class is lecture based and I tend to drift off in thought sometimes..lol, but when we start doing hands on work, then the class goes by quickly.

I know one thing is for sure that I need to change is going to bed earlier on days that I don't have class because by the beginning of my second class I am ready to fall to sleep. This is my last semester though, so I've got to make it a good one, but so far it is.

Baby Items That Were Your Favorite To Use

I was looking through my photo album the other day when all of my kids were babies and forgot I had a a few pictures from my first baby shower when I was pregnant with my oldest. As I was looking through I was remembering most of the baby items that I had received or either bought when the kids were babies. I don't think any of my kids got any sort of personalized baby gift baskets, you know with their name or something to that effect to keep, but I do remember having a couple of items that lasted for a while.

I remember having one of those gigantic strollers, I think it was made by Graco. Although I hated trying to whipped that baby limousine around at times, it was pretty good. I had that stroller until my youngest was about a little over 2 years old and I gave to a consignment shop or either goodwill because I didn't have the room to keep it. It was sturdy as I used it for all three of the kids before giving it up.

Another item was a infant tub that would grow along with the child until were able to sit up. Unfortunately, I only had that one for my oldest, but it lasted for a good while too. I couldn't really find the same thing so I could use it for my other two kids.

Stopping Blemishes

Blah, I hate having blemishes and I'm not talking about "beauty marks" as they are far from it. I'm talking about those pimples that want to just pop up when they feel like it. Especially the one that wants to show itself to everyone however small it is. I have heard that you can put toothpaste on pimples as one idea of home remedies for blemishes, but I have yet to try it. Maybe I should next time.

Anyone of you ladies, or men, have a way to get rid of pimples quickly that have worked for you?

I can't say that I'm one to give out makeup tips as I don't wear makeup at all really. The last time that I every have worn full out makeup was for my wedding and my mom helped me because I really didn't know how to put it on except lipstick and mascara. Eh, I just consider myself a natural beauty... well in my eyes..lol.

The only kind of makeup I wear is lip gloss and that's all I usually look for if I ever go to the makeup section in a store. I like the duo glosses that have one on each end and I took a liking to the best makeup newport ri called Cosmetic Cosmos. The prices are affordable I think and if I could, I probably would have at least one of each of the glosses on my dresser and just be puckering like crazy in the mirror. As some women have handbags and shoe fetishes, I guess I have a lip gloss fetish. Oh and hats..lol.

There are other makeup selections like blushes, lipstick, some skincare products too. I just focused on lip gloss cause that is my favorite kind of makeup.

How to Fight Anemia Naturally

I really need to try to start to eat healthy or at least take some supplements to get my anemia under control some. I have a bad habit of eating ice, which is not a good thing since I crave it continuously. Like as I'm typing this, I'm chewing away on ice right now which I have crushed up into ice chips. I also get really tired at times, even if I had went to bed early the night before. It bites at times, but I just push through it I guess until I get too worn down and then I just crash.

According to the singer, this is an actual place and actual people that he mentions in the song. If you ever personally been there, then you probably could relate to what KO is singing about. I never been to upstate, but from most of his words in his songs, it sounds like going upstate could be a nice place to visit.

Getting So Close....

I'm on the home stretch of getting my bachelor's degree and just have to completed three classes for this fall semester to graduate. I am so excited to be so close to finishing. I did have a bit of a panic attack when I got an email that I needed one more class to graduate and I knew that I was calculating everything right and so forth. The course that was said I needed, I really didn't need and I was following a newer version the college had where I would could follow the course work of when I started at the college or when I would be graduating. Well I started following the course work of when I would graduate, so that was the reason for that extra class. Luckily, I was told that all was well and I would be graduating =)

I was really glad that it was worked out.

Random Thought: What's Your Craft or Talent?

I have always admired those who had a craft at doing things with their hands. You know like sewing really nice clothes, making personalized baby gift baskets, quilting, stuff like that, they just have this talent of whipping something up. My grandma tried to teach me how to crochet when I was little, even my mom, but what I was trying to make would never come out the way it should be. My mom used to crochet blankets and they were really cute. I do try to think of baking as my craft though. That is something that I really enjoy doing even if it doesn't look the same way as in the cookbook or magazine page, it still turns out yummy...lol. I guess I like baking is because my grandma baked a lot and I was always there to help her. It was just fun.

I used to draw too, like whatever cartoon that I saw in the comics or cartoon on television, I would sit down and draw until I got good where it would look like the picture. I wish I could draw like that again. I probably could if I try or if my kids really want me to draw something. I see the talent in my oldest girl though, she can draw very, very well and loves to write stories. I hope that she continues that and keeps having fun with it. My youngest girl likes to sing and act. For someone that is shy around people, you wouldn't know it when she does her thing... well when no one is listening. =)

Back to School Shopping

Anyone did their kids back to school shopping yet? I was able to get my kids school shopping done this past Friday and it wasn't too bad at all. I wanted to try to get it done so that I wouldn't be out in a bigger crowd during the weekend since it was tax free weekend, but I still got to take advantage of it though since Friday was included. All three of the kids will be going to school and my son, who is the youngest, will be starting his first year of school in Pre-K.

All in all, I spent about $150, but it was mostly school supplies for the girls. Lil man wanted to get the same things as his sisters, but it's not needed for him. I did let him get his own folder, bookbag and pencil box which he was happy with..lol. I don't remember what was spent last year, but I guess $150 isn't too bad compared to what I've read on what others have spent on school supplies. I didn't have to spend anything on clothes really since everyone's clothes are in good condition and I only had to get my youngest girl and son some pants which I went to Goodwill to find some and didn't spend but only $16.

For myself though I still have to get a few things, but I'll probably wait until I get my books for my classes. I did however grabbed a cute bookbag though.

Home Remedies for Body Odor

The unpleasant smell of one's body is something that everyone tries to avoid as best as they can. For instance, taking a shower or bath daily can help to prevent body odor as well as using an antiperspirant deodorant are the best things. But, what if you are someone who does these things routinely, but still have an odor that seem to not go away? Well, there are a some home remedies for body odor that can be of some use.

If you have vinegar in your kitchen cabinet, this is one of the best home remedies for body odor. Vinegar can be used to wash your underarms or you can pour half vinegar and half water into a spray bottle and spray under your arms. Don't worry about the vinegar smell too much as it will evaporate over 15 minutes or so. Vinegar takes care of the bacteria that may be in the area still and keep you smelling fresh. You can also, if necessary, bathe yourself with the vinegar by pouring a bit into your bath water.

Baking soda and lemon mixed together and rubbed about under the arms can also be helpful. Another remedy that you could try is by having a cup of sage tea every day. Sage tea will help lessen the body odor because it reduces that activity of the sweat glands. Also tomato juice is not only for getting rid of awful skunk smell as you can bathe in it to alleviate body odor. All you would need is two cups of the tomato juice poured into your bath water and make sure your whole body is covered with the bath solution for at least 15 minutes.

By combining some of these tips along with eating healthy foods should at least decrease your body odor, if not eliminate it all together.

Nice Summer Evening

Have you had a summer evening yet where it is a nice warm breeze, you can just sit on the porch or front step and have a cool drink in your hand and just relax? I had just a a hint of one of those evenings to do that before hearing the kids knocking at the front door asking me what am I doing, can I come out, mama..mama..mama... lol. The only thing that was missing from that little bit of peace was some good music. Not the dancing in the sweat kind, but some of that music that you can just have that laid back feeling. The song "Flyin" from KO Guitar came to mind as I was thinking back to the song sample I heard the other day. That would have been a great song to listen to and enjoy that evening.

The instrumental song, "Flyin", was written about 8 years ago. The writer of the song got the inspiration from the visits he had in upstate NY and after a while decide to write lyrics to the music to capture the feeling of the visits. This was the very first track that was put on to his album 175 Cherry Lane and then later a friend suggested to recut the track and adding sax and a lead vocal to the song. The song writer came back to the original idea of the instrumental version which the song now has a Jazz/Rock feel to it. The mood of the song that he wanted to capture was how it would feel like to fly.

Alternative to the Expensive Infant Formulas

Have you ever wondered if all the infant formulas out on the market are basically the same and the prices are based on the popular brand name that is on the can? I know I did when I had my oldest and I would compare the ingredients to formulas that I had used and wanted to switch up. Since realizing that most had the same ingredients, I started going with Wal-Mart's Parent's Choice Infant Formula and had continue to use it for all three of my kids. My kids never had any problems with digesting it or anything and I was able to save a little more money.

I never knew that you were able to purchase the formula online at Wal-Mart's website, but that it pretty nice in case the new mom may not be able to leave home for a while or for some other circumstances. I didn't have to worry about that since I was near to one. Going to any place fun? Any place new and exciting? Long trip, short trip? Having a cookout? Mind if I come along....? No...? Well, okay. I tried right, lol.

Not much will be going on this way during the holiday. There may be some George Forman grilling for hot dogs and hamburgers, but that's about it. Probably just going to stay in and keep cool until the evening time when it's cooler. If the kids were old enough and the cash were a little looser, I wouldn't mind taking a trip with them to like Carowinds, Six Flags, or the beach. The beach would probably would be better since everyone would at least have a good time a little better. I guess I will just peek at others vacation pictures and be jealous at how much fun they are having away from home.. lol.

Ever been in a situation where someone is mouthing you words from across the room or something and you either don't read their words correctly or totally have no clue as to what they are saying? Yep, me too. If people are trying to say something without speaking with their voice or writing it down, then don't be surprised if I give you a weird facial expression because I'm thinking you are saying something kind of funky.

Anyway, I was watching a youtubers video one night and he had Miley Cyrus' Party in the USA video clip, but it wasn't the actual lyrics to the song (yes, I know the lyrics and I did jam to that song at one time or another, like none of you haven't....). So of course, I went to the link that was posted and that song had me giggling. Bad Lip Reading or BLR for short made the video, put in what they thought she was saying if you weren't able to hear the lyrics. There were a few other video, but my favorite one is with Ludacris and the Bee Gees and now I catch myself singing it here and there. You should see my kids looking at me like what in the world... lol.

Last Day, Now Summer Begins

Today is the last day of school for the girls. I know they are glad in a way, for one because they are having all kinds of activities in their class. Although, myself, I'm not too sure if I'm ready for about 2 month with all three of the kids being all hyper together.. lol. I'm already trying to plan things out of what to do with the kids, where to take them, etc so that they don't cause mama here to go insane. I also got to plan a balance with everyone as well as getting work done. Well time to google up some things to see what is going on around town this summer.

Starting now, yes I'm already counting.... 2 1/2 months before school starts again.

I don't have classes for the summer, so now I've gotten a bit bored sitting around the house. I really want to get out and go to the beach or get out of the city at least one time this summer, but money is tight and the way gas prices are, it may not look like it's going to happen.... ugh. I get this way each summer, it's just monotonous of the same thing every year.

I'm trying to seem productive though, but it's getting a bit harder now. A couple of my online work have been either closed down or money has gotten way, way low which makes for longer hours to make the same amount made before, but for now, I'm just leaving those alone. I'm trying to apply for online work that I'm finding through craigslist and other work from home blogs and I'm really hoping to get a few bites. I am though, in the process of training for one job, but it is really hard and tomorrow is my last chance to try to get in with this position, which would be wonderful if I make it. I guess that can be one thing to do is study up so that I can feel like I made some progress and that I may do well on the testing.

I have a feeling that this is going to be a long, long, hot summer.

I love going to baby showers of my friends or people that I may know that invited me. The last one I went to was a long time friend of mine and I had a good time, although I half of my attention went to my kids to make sure they wasn't getting into anything they shouldn't.. lol. So I'm not dreading the day, but I know it will come up soon I'm sure. Although my oldest daughter has not really peaked interest of what the possible changes will be taking place with her in the next few years, which I'm glad in a way, but I thought I would just be prepared. While at Borders, I stumbled on a book called The Care and Keeping of You which I was thinking would help her understand what will happen as she gets older.

My daughter is already at the point of having to use deodorant and I had bought her on girls type just for her. So I explained about the reasons on why she needed it, so she is all good with that. The day when I bought the book and wanted her to just skim through it, nope she wasn't interested, so I will just keep the book on the shelf until she want to look at it herself.

Like I said, I think the book will be helpful and I want her to feel that she can come to me to ask about anything when she needs too. And I'm pretty sure she will as she is an inquisitive child..lol

Well, maybe not right now, but it is a nice idea. No not permanently and I would be right there with them. I've never been to Alaska, never thought to go really. I'm not the type that likes the cold much. I think 50 degrees is too cold for me. Been a Busy Bee...

I've been busy, or it just feels like I have been busy. Just the past couple of days only it's just been up and down and back and forth. My second daughter's birthday was yesterday, but since my older daughter birthday is a week later, we celebrate theirs together. To them, it seems like another Christmas day. It was a day just for them on what they wanted to do and they really enjoyed it. When we were walking around in some stores, I saw a few monogrammed baby gifts, like the little towels or washcloths with a letter on it. This just had me thinking of when the girls were just infants. *tear* and they are so growing like weeds now. At the end of the night, I could tell I was tired though because I didn't have no trouble in falling asleep, no did anyone else. But you wouldn't know that since the kids got up a little before 7AM.. Ahhh.....

Anywho, classes have been keeping me busy too. I have one more semester after this and then I will be completely done. *crossing fingers* I'm really concentrating and making sure I don't fall behind on my assignments which is a load. Right now I am doing only two classes for this first half of semester, which is ok so far, but then I will have another added onto the last part of the semester. I'm just trying to keep things organized and focus, focus.

Another Year To Celebrate

So I celebrated my 32nd birthday last Friday. Yay me! But, you know, it just felt like an ordinary day to me. I don't know, I think after I turned 18, it was just like, eh. I think I just got to being happy that I have made it to another.

It's funny though, because I sometimes have to think about how old I am, like I forget. I think I forgot after turning 30, lol. Is that why some women say they stopped counting after 28 or 30 because truly they forgot how old they really are, lol. I don't know, that was just a funny thought to me.

White Christmas

We ended up having a white Christmas this year. I don't really remember the last time we had one, it's been that long, but it was a pretty one. It snowed the following day as well and now the sun is peeking out. It's amazing how when there is a blanket of snow everywhere, that everything is just quiet, peaceful, still. It's like just taking a mug filled with hot chocolate, or coffee for you coffee drinkers and just sit by the window or door and take it all end. I would have done that, but you know, once the door opens, the kids bum rush me so that they can see outside at the snow and see if it was still snowing or not.. lol

Christmas was a pretty good one. Enjoyed the time as usual with my family and just having good food and laughs. It's always good and my brother just can have us cracking up over anything. I'm glad that my grandma was able to join us too, it was wonderful to see her in good health and in good spirits. It was also nice to have four generations sitting in one house all together. Me and my mom finally got a picture of us and my grandma and my two girls all together since we have been talking about if for so long. That is something I'm going to treasure.

Winter Break

I am so glad that it's winter break now and that school is out for me for a few weeks. My brain seems to want to be on shut down mode right before exams... lol. My last exam was on Wednesday, so now I can be in relaxed mode for a bit. The girls last day was yesterday and although it's going to be great not having to go out in the cold, I'm never prepared to hear the mama, mama, mama calling because of whatever it is that somebody doesn't like somebody else having and such. I get to used to just having me and the little guy at home and it's just peaceful.

Not much will be traveling will be going on except on Christmas day to head to my families and that's about it. Other than that, I'll be working my little fingers off online while I have the few weeks of free time. So although I don't have to get up early to take the girls to school, I do have to get up around the same time to work.

I have not been to Disney during the regular season, but once I do go, I think I would like to check it out during the Christmas time. 20 Days Until Christmas!

And it's coming fast. Christmas shopping has already been completed for the kids so I'm all good with that. Well, almost, just got to get some stocking stuffers and then it will be completed. The only thing left though is putting up the tree. Yeah, I haven't done that yet at all, not really in a rush to put it up either. I know, I know, I should, but it will get done before the day gets here, don't worry. It's funny how when the Christmas booklets from stores come out, the kids start pointing I want that, Santa's going to bring me that, etc, etc. I'm glad it's only once during the year for that, because it's everyday, especially if they find those booklets somewhere when I think I put them out of sight. I think if we had cable and the toy commercials would come on, it would be none stop. At least when they open up their gifts, they are happy with what they get, and I'm going to milk it until they get old enough to actually have a tiff about certain gifts they don't get, so I'll deal with it then.

So have any of you bought all of your gifts yet? Have you gotten anything like monogrammed baby gifts, or toddlers toys, or expensive electronics that you teenager has to have or else their life is ruined for the months to come.. Did I mention that I'm glad my kids aren't in that stage yet.. lol

Locs One Years Old

In a couple of weeks, my locs will be one years old ya'll.. YAY!! It's been so cool, I'm loving it. They have really grown and now I can do some styles with them. I had the in curls the other day and they were cute. I had them pinned back a few time before also. I've gotten to where I'm not being as fussy as I was at the beginning of them and I let them swing around and do their own thing until I get tired on my front getting into my face to much, then I have to push them back with a headband.. lol.

I still go on youtube every so often and drool over the other loc wearers thinking I should have made my smaller or I should do that, but snapping back to reality, I know mine fit me perfectly and it's all good =)

What's Been Going On?

Not really much of an excitement over on my end other than keeping busy with school and working and the daily things around the house. I did of course get to see my nephew for the first time the end of October and he is such a cutie pie. I got to hold him and he seems so small to me, but of course I have big kids now so that could be a reason. I also feel awkward of holding someone else's child even if it's family. Just having the thought am I holding them a wrong way or something. I brought over a few things like onsies, a blanket and a few things for him, no personalized baby gifts or anything like that, but it was all good.

Earlier in October we took our little man to see a speech specialist and to get evaluated since he is still not saying words that he should be. He is getting a little better and when me and the kids were over my brother's house that weekend, my brother said that he could understand what little man was trying to say, which is good. We are still waiting to hear back on when he is able to start his therapy since the speech therapist say she would put him at the top of the list, so hopefully soon he will get in.

Let's see, what else? Well the car that I bought in September I'm still liking so far. No problems, although I had to get a new battery for it since it was going completely dead. I'm going to have to replace the alternator soon as well, but other than that, so far, so good. I'm still loving it, although I do wish the gas mileage was better.. lol,. Seems like that little thing drinks up a bit of gas, but I do see that the gas prices are going up a bit so I take in that factor. Um, I'm working as much as I can on my online work since there are going to be a few changes when summer times comes around again and the extra money will be in handy. Also it looks like that I will be graduating in the Fall of 2011 instead of that Spring/Summer like I would hope, but there are certain classes that won't be offer for the summer, plus I think a break between the two semester will be a good break. I feel like I'm getting overwhelmed with school and really ready to be done with.. lol.

Well, I guess that's it. Not much of an update really, is it, but anyway until next time...

It's been an ok almost 2 year run with you, but I'm not much of a person that can have a high maintenance type like yourself. Yes, we do look good together as we drove through the town, with the wind wind gracefully blowing around us and listening to the awesome system as we carried on, but we do have to part. I can't keep up with you. You need someone that can give you the care that you really need, Ms. Red.

I know the other that I have now won't have what we had, but I can handle that. I know you were a bit jealous as I was taking you from place to place looking for something else. I know you didn't mean to leave me and the family stranded on the side like that because you didn't like what was going on, but hey, it's ok. so I bought a new car earlier this week and now have to say good by to my Dodge Intrepid that has been give me much trouble. It didn't like me too well looking around at other car and decided to overheat on me for the last time, so that day when it happened I had to get a new car. Low and behold, went to check on Ms. Red yesterday morning, she started up and did not overheat or anything. Oh well, I'm sure someone can work on it and get it where it will run like it needs to.. Hope I can sell it soon though, because I hate making car payments. I hadn't had to make payments on a car in a long time and I'm not trying to make them for longer than I have to either.. lol

It was a nice day outside yesterday. It was not to hot, not too cool, a nice breeze with sunny, blue skies. Would have liked to have spent the time out, but unfortunately, had mounds of homework to do along with a few things with work. So to enjoy the nice day, turned off the AC, didn't need it anyway since it was only 79 degrees was the high here, opened up the windows and brought out the rotating fan that was kept in the corner. The whole house felt great and me and the kids just relaxed in the living room and watched some of their videos while I worked a bit on my home work and work.

On another note, I'm glad to keep hearing good news about the new addition to the family. My sister in law and the baby boy have both been doing wonderful since he was born. I still have to look around for some things for the baby since I'm not sure if she will be still having a baby shower or not. Either way, I was thinking to look around at some baby gift baskets or maybe make one myself, even if it may be a small one.

Anyway, I hope everyone's Labor Day Holiday is a going well and are having a safe one.

Stomach Virus Going Around

There is a stomach virus going around an my little guy has caught it. He wasn't feeling well when he woke up from his nap last Wednesday with a fever so I gave him some Tylenol and we had to go pick up the girls. Over the weekend he was on and off vomiting and we took him to the doctor to see what was going on. He would be fine during the day, but in the middle of the night he would wake up and need to vomit.

The doctor told us that it was a stomach virus going around and that he may have it. I asked hubby if anyone was sick at his job that he may have worked around and he said there was. So we figured hubby caught the virus and since little man likes to lay up under his dad, little man caught it from him somehow. The doctor was surprised that I haven't caught it since I am with little man all day, but so far so good for me and also for the girls, they are in good heath.

My little man today is doing a little better as far as not vomiting now. He little body is tired and wants to sleep most of the day as he is doing now. It just feels terrible when your kids are sick and you can't do but some much to make them comfortable and help to get them better. So, everyone keep those hands washed/sanitized in case anything is happening in your area.

First Week of School

The first week of school for the girls turned out pretty good. Chipmunk (my oldest) recieved the same teacher as she did from her last year that taught first grade. Giggles is enjoying her teachers, although she is still shy of talking to her classmates. She will I'm sure pull out of that once she is comfortable around them. When I pick them up in the afternoon, they both have so much to tell about their day and it is so cute to see Chipmunk hold Giggles hand while I pull up so they can get into the car. Such a great big sister she is.

We found out before the first week of school that Lil Man was on a waiting list to get into head start. I really wanted for him to go, was thinking that being around other kids would help him with his speech, but it is all good. When he had his doctor's appointment a few weeks ago, the doctor asked about what he is able to say and so on. She recommended that if he didn't get in that she would refer someone for him and in October he has his first speech therapy appointment. I am anxious to hear my little guy talk and use words. I know it get frustrating for the both of us that I can't understand everything that he wants to tell me and he is not able to enunciate a lot of his words.

As for myself, my programming class is going to be a killer, but I have to make sure to try to pass and study, study, study. This is a class that is part of my major and I have to make a passing grade. It's going to be so hard and we already have to write a program for a game. Ugh, I really don't know where to start on this and I am going to have to figure it out come this Friday/ Thursday night before turning it in. All I can do is try my best, right? Sigh....

Well, I haven't made it to that actually "talk" yet with my oldest girl, but when she does I am sure to be ready for it.... Right?? The other night, she popped a question about what were the circles on her chest, well I proceeded to tell her what they were and yes they will get bigger like mama's. I had to laugh at her response to that when she said, "But I'm not tall enough yet". I wanted to say, well it won't depend on your height, but I just say, yes you are not tall enough, but when you are and when you get bigger, then I'm sure they will come along. Although I looked at my 7 year old with I'm sure some big eyes as to why are you asking me that question... You are not old enough to ask me that, I did handle it properly without just pushing the subject away.

Shots All Around

I'm not talking about the ones you get at the bar. These shots I am talking about are the one that the Giggles and Lil Man had to get yesterday at the doctor's appointment for a wellness checkup. I hate for them to get them and the way the kids just tense up and scare gets me teary eyed. I should be use to this, but I can't. I been light that ever since Chipmunk had her first shots and I bout busted out in tears.

All I can do is console them and rub their backs and give them hugs telling them how good they did. The girls don't have to get shots for a while now, but Lil Man has to go through them when he turns 4 and 5. Sigh. Giggles and Lil Man did good though when they got their shots. Giggles made sure that you know that she disapproved of the situation with her boastful crying and Lil Man did shed some tears and whimpers and he was all good.

It is also weird to me how each time we take the kids to get their vaccinations, there is a new one that they have to get. I can't remember what they have out now that Lil Man got, but it was something new. I have to look it up. Any other parent noticed that when they have to take their child for vaccinations nowadays?

Marriage Is To Be As One, But...

Sometimes both people sometimes have to take a break from one another. I'm not saying just out right saying "hey I'm gone for about a week or two, see you when you get back". Well, ok, some may do that and if it works for them, then hey keep it going, but I'm saying both parties needs a time where they can go off and do their thing every so often. This could mean taking an hour or so or even a day from each other, just so that you do the things you used to enjoy when it was just you. Me personally, I think that it is a good way for a relationship to be more in balance and to have more intimacy when you come back together. I'm not an expert in this, but I'm sure that if anyone is looking to gain a more positive outlook in their marriage or long time relationship, then relationship coaching New York or in your local area could assist.

Mental Note: Cars Need To Be Hydrated Too

Yesterday, I took the kids off to the science museum because they were having a $2 a person special to get in. Can't beat that right? So get the kids in the car, make sure the dog have clean water while we are gone, but something hits my mind and says, "hmm, you need to check the antifreeze level in the car". Well, let's say I dimiss that thought and off we go to the science museum. After our fun there, I took the kids to grab some chicken nuggets and fries for dinner and then we set off home. Getting close to home, I notice that the tempreture gauge is looks like it's about to hit pass the middle point. So I am praying at the light to change, change to green. Why do lights want to take it's time to change when you need to get somewhere or having car troubles is beyond me.

So I am behind a pick up truck driving slowly down the street and I'm like, look fellow, you got to speed up so that I can get some air circulating through the hood and you are not making the situation better. Well he picks up speed a bit, but come to another light which is a long one too. Ahhh, green light, green light, hurry up and change, geez. So we start off again, luckily the truck in front of me turns off to a different street, then I am hoping that the next light we hit before turning onto our street is green and Yay it is..lol. So the gauge is now bumping pass the middle point and I back the car in the drive way, turn the engine off and I hear the liquid in the car making that boiling sound you know when you are boiling water on the stove. Well just a minute or two of that, smoke starts bellowing out under the hood of the car. I was like, oh no, I hope I didn't damage the radiator or the coolant tank.. just hoping, hoping. This was embarrassing, but I at least me and the kids were not on the side of the road in the heat. I get the kids out of the car and into the house, waiting for the car to cool down. I checked it however I could, put some water in it and ran the car for a moment and it seems fine.

So I got to get some antifreeze today and put some in once the water circulates through and also some oil. I think what happen though was whatever that it boiled out the bit of antifreeze that was in the car and hit the hot parts under the hood. I need to start back checking the fluids of the car each week to make sure all is good. Well at least I know some car basic knowledge thanks to my dad and brother.

Well today I have to go to the grocery store like I do every two weeks and sometimes I dread doing it and sometimes I don't. The reason I dread it is because if I don't get to the store early enough then I am stuck in a long line and when you are ready to go, there is that one customer that doesn't know how to work the debit card machine, or quarreling over what price is suppose to be with what product, or the cashier goes to slow talking away about what happen to them the night before, what ever it is. Now when I get up to the line, I usually end up getting the same young guy cashier and he is always impressed by how much I save using my coupons and the MVP card that I use. It makes me laugh and I told him last time that I used to be able to cut back at least half of the cost.

Now I am trying my best to do it again so that I can have a good stock pile of things in the house of food and goodies and I am glad that the kids are about to go back to school because food does not last long when they are home most of the day. They are always hungry every hour it seems..lol. Anyway, the day before I try to go through online forums and blogs to see what kind of coupons matches with what product for the store that I am going to be shopping at. I am also trying this new site WeUseCoupons and see how this will work out with what I already do. The site lets you know before anyone else when certain coupons come out, which is pretty cool and there is a forum to ask questions and stuff in. Hopefully it will help me out some with and I can see what the other grocery shoppers are saving themselves.

I wish that I had a picture of my binder when it was so full and I had loads of coupons in it and I would always get looks from others as what I am doing with it. I know some cashiers dread that person that comes to the register with loads of coupons (trust me, I was a cashier once before and just rolled my eyes) but you should see their expression when they see your bill go down. It's too funny.

Sh*t My Kids Ruined is a blog with pictures and explanation of what kids had ruined of their parents property, their own toys, etc. So far from what I can remember what my kids did is not many, but marking up the walls, scratched up some CDs, ruined carpet, pulled down a picture frame which broke.. um, did I say they didn't do to much damage.. lol. Oh, I wonder what is going to happen when they are older.

Oh my goodness, I saw this big waterbug, cockroach looking thing, whatever it was crawling about on my wall in the kitchen. For a girl who grew up in a small town, going about in garden and planting/picking tobacco you wouldn't think that I would be such a scaredy, but I freak. I got it with some bug spray, but now it's in in between the wall and the microwave on it's back, not moving and waiting for hubby to get home. Yep, I'm not going in that kitchen until it gets taken care of by him. I'm too squemish with this and like I said it freaks me out. Hope hubby gets home soon from work..... I'm getting hungry.. lol

This is the second one so far in a few days. I saw one the other morning and work hubby up to get it. This is what it looks like shown at the bottom. I'm just getting squirmy looking at the picture for just a second. Ack! Did you know that the biggest waterbug is 1.5 inches in length. Yeah, that's the one I saw, I'm sure of it. That's the culprit.

Are You Busy?

Do you ever wonder when someone calls you, they always ask, are you busy? Well, um I think you could guess by the sound of my voice that I may be or I may be not. You called, so I'm assuming you are needing something. Nah, I wouldn't say that though, that would be rude, but I'm sure you have the same thought sometimes when someone calls to ask you that. One of my brother in laws called me the other day and I did have a tone in my voice that I was a bit busy, but I didn't want to be rude, like Yeah, what is it, I got to go...lol.

Do you ever do that yourself though. Ask someone else if they are busy when you call them. I just did that today with my dad just to see how he was doing and I called him at work. Sometimes it's the only way I can get in touch with him and I could tell he was in the middle of something. I knew he didn't mind because he started talking away about some things.. lol

Well if I guess if you give annoyance, then you should take annoyances too. (=

Nothing But Rain

I was hoping to get the kids out again this week, but the weather is telling me there is no way of doing so. Rain, rain, rain is in the forecast for the entire week. Ugh. I think we are getting enough rain as it is. It was a nice change yesterday morning to step out of the house and not have the hot heat take over your whole body. It was nice and cool and I didn't think that it would be that way until I step out in a tank and shorts. I was going to get a light jacket since it was overcast and looked like it was going to rain again, but went on. I had in my head though of when my mom used to say when I'm wearing something that may not fit the cool weather, she would always say "It's not summer time out" and I knew I had to find something else... lol. It's funny how I still do as mama tells me in a way, even though I'm all grown up with a family of my own.

Movie Treat For The Kids

Today I treated the kids out to see the movie Despicable Me and pizza for lunch. We all had a good time. The movie was great, I thought, but I like these types of animation movies from Dreamworks and the kids loved it to. This was there first time actually going to a theater and I haven't been to one for about 3 years now. (I blame the online movies I find to watch..lol) Hopefully I will be able to get the kids back to another movie before school starts back, but this one to one of those $2 movie showings to save on money. Even though I went broke for the day, it was all good and worth it for the kids.

Local Influencer is Pretty Cool

I am all for making money and helping out with getting household things paid for and such and I came across this program, Local Influencer, that you can receive $10 for just having a mailing address. Basically they use your mailing address to promote a Satellite TV company and that's it. There is no solicitation of mail from them or phone calls. I decided to try this out and see if I would get a check from them. Well low and behold within the same month since I signed up early, I received a $10 check from them. I was like, that's cool, so I wanted to promote it since you are able to get extra money for referring others. I did that on a few forums and such that I frequent and the next month received my $10 plus and extra $40. So I promoted it more to give others heads up about this that may want to join or pass it on to someone else and so far my 5th check that I received this month was for over $200. I wonder what if will be like next month, I can't wait.

Back to School Is Almost Here

Well, it will still be another month I think for the girls to start back. I think they go back at almost the end of August. My oldest girl will be entering into 2nd Grade, my youngest girl will be going into Kindergarten and we are still waiting on notifications to see if our little guy will be able to get into Head-start and hope to find out that soon. I know here in NC there is going to be a no tax weekend at the beginning of August and I will taking the advantage of that since every parent knows that school required lots of things for each individual class your child is in. At least I won't have to worry about getting a nap mat since the school they go to don't use them and plus they are so hard to find at times especially when everyone else needs them. I will of course, get a few things for myself for my classes that begin around the same time as the kids go back. Mom can't get deals just for everyone else, you know. She likes to save for herself too. =)

One big thing is finding kids backpack for the girls as they love the character ones, but it will all depend on the budget that I have and if I can get them. They are already talking about what kind of backpack they want, and "I want a princess one" or "I want Dora the Explorer" or "No, no I want Strawberry Shortcake".. lol. As I always tell them, we'll see how it goes and what is available. If little man gets into Head-Start, he may need one as well and I saw some really cute stephen joseph backpack that would be great for him. They appear durable and they are bright and colorful with pictures on them. He likes about anything and I think he probably would just be excited in getting a backpack and be an office big boy. That at least satisfy them until the next time they ask.

Is anyone else anxious for the kids to get things going and for the kids to start school again? It's always nice to spend time with your kids regardless, but that break is also needed too.. lol

Not a Good Mix for My Tastebuds

Yesterday, I went to buy some Krispy Kreme donuts since I got a few coupons from the paper the day before and went online to check out how the new Cheerwine donuts looked like. Basically to see if they were creamed filled or just icing dizzled on top. I'm not much of the creamed filled type donut person. Anyway, I see that they were only sold in one city and it was too far anyway, even if I wanted to try them. Well, I cam across this article of mixing the Cheerwine donut with a KFC chicken sandwich. I tell you, I can say it was not that very appetizing looking to me.. I think I will stick to the plain old glazed donuts. My favorite.

My Brother is so Sweet

I have such a nice brother. The other day he offered to give me a car. He was working on a friend's car and asked his friend that he would buy it off of him since there was another problem with the car. He call me and said if he bought it and fixed it up since the guy really didn't want the car, he would give it to me. My brother is such a sweetheart now and looking out for his older sister. You never would have thought the idea if you would have seen us growing up together.. lol. But everyone has sibling rivalry.

I'm glad that he knows how to work on cars because there was another time where he came and replace my radiator on the car for me and also fixed my wheels, which one drum was sticking and whatnot. My brother is a trip though. He would always be telling, you know I can bling out your car. I got a set of rims if you want to buy them from me at a good deal. I could find some type of chrome accessories to style it out. LOL, I usually turn him down though, tell him his a mess. I got a 97 dodge intrepid with faded paint and scratches and I'm thinking to myself, how you going to bling out this car. Then I'm like, well, there are people that bling out car that seem like they are going to fall apart if they go over a bump to quickly.

I'm glad my brother and I get along now. I guess when you grow up, you have to put those little aggravating things aside sometimes and enjoy your family however you can.

Another Nephew Coming Soon

So I am proud to say that I will soon be an aunt again. Well, I am an aunt regardless, but come November, a new baby boy will be welcomed into my brother's family. I know my folks are wondering when my and my brother are going to stop having kids, but there is no more coming from either side after this. I think I am done with kids. Anyway though, when it gets closer to the due date, I'm going to try to get a few things for the new baby to help them out like basic necessities and clothes, I may even find one or two personalized baby gifts like I did with my other two nephews, even if it's something small. My sister in law is prone to having the babies come earlier than their due date, so hopefully this little guy will stay in the oven until he's good and ready...lol Either way, all I wish is for both of them to come through the pregnancy and labor ok.

Even though I don't have an outside grill, I'll still be making some hotdogs and hamburgers on my George Forman grill. Either way, it's going to be all good. Then probably sit out on the porch with the family and enjoy the outdoorsiness (lol, made up word) and if we are lucky enough, maybe see some fireworks/sparklers that the neighbors may do.

Anyway, good time all around everyone!

Outdoor Fun with the Kids

Yesterday I enjoyed a little bit of fresh air and outdoor time with the kids. It was so nice outside and not really a hot day during the early part of the day and evening time. The hubby and I taught the girls on how to play tennis, but using the birdie. We didn't have a net, but it was all good, we just imagined our walk way as the net. It was really fun. My oldest daughter I think can play some serious sports once she gets her coordination together and also learn that she just can't be swinging all wildly to hit something.. lol. My youngest girl I can tell is not much of a sports person as she got upset when she didn't win whatever game we were playing.

We also had hubby's niece come by that evening and played along with us. Very good to always see her and the kids enjoyed her visit as well. Sometimes it's hard for them to get attention from their cousins sometimes because most of them are a lot older and at least the niece that came to visit is right around both their ages. Little man even had a ball playing with the girls. Hopefully will try to have another day like this tomorrow for the 4th of July holiday.

Disney Here We Come ~ Maybe??

Well, my hubby wants to take the family on a trip to Disney. Mind you I want to go myself, as I have not been out of the state since who knows when and it would be good for the kids to actually have a vacation during the summer. The only thing is I don't know how to really plan big trips and this would be a big trip for us. So while just glancing around online to see what kind of deals may be offered and such, I stumbled on something which gave free Disney vaccation planning services which was up my alley. At least I would have someone to help me out on what would be a great trip for the family within the money range we could afford to spend and enjoy ourselves without any regret.

I know where to go now to actually plan a trip to Disney or even try to do a cruise ( one thing I really want to do is go on a cruise) and hopefully save some extra money to the side to try to do it next summer when schedules aren't so here and there like it is now. What's that saying when people when big money or a prize they ask what you are going to do now? Well my answer is going to be we're going to DisneyWorld! Hope I'm thinking that's right, hmm, I don't know. Lol, oh well.

Check Your Freezer: Recall on Marie Callender's Chicken and Rice

Food giant ConAgra has issued a national recall of all Marie Callender's brand Cheesy Chicken & Rice frozen meals, regardless of when they were made, because they appear to be linked to an outbreak of salmonella Chester that has sickened 29 people in 14 states since April.

The company sells 5.6 million of the frozen dinners a year, said ConAgra's Teresa Paulsen. "We estimate that prior to recall there would be 50,000 to 100,000 cases (each containing eight dinners) in market. So that would be 400,000 to 800,000 individual packages possibly in market," she said. The company, ConAgra Foods Packaged Foods of Council Bluffs, Iowa, made the announcement Thursday night.

"There are 29 laboratory confirmed cases, which means that hundreds of people have become ill," said William Keene, an epidemiologist with the state of Oregon who¹s been a part of the national investigation of the outbreak.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had published estimates that for every lab-confirmed-salmonella case, there are roughly 38 people sick.

The outbreak may not be over. "Even if it's a single production problem, these cases can come on for a long time," Keene said. "There are people who buy them in bulk, a lot at a time, and then eat them over several months."

Consumers who purchased these dinners should "throw the product away and return the package to the retailer for a refund," Paulsen said.

The outbreak is being tracked by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. So far all of the illnesses reported occurred in April and May.

The recall affects only 13-ounce packages of "Marie Callender's Cheesy Chicken & Rice: White Meat Chicken and Broccoli over Rice Topped with Rich Cheddar Sauce."

Salmonella can cause diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever, usually within eight to 72 hours of eating the contaminated food. Symptoms, including chills, headache, nausea and vomiting, can last for up to a week.

In infants, the elderly and people with impaired immune systems salmonella poisoning can be life-threatening.

Summer Is Closing In

By the heat hitting 90 degrees for yesterday and today as well, you can tell that summer is just around the corner. Going outside even in the earliest of time, still feel the mugginess within the air and the warmth. The AC was on the majority of the day yesterday and normally it would be off late at night, but the heat would not leave the house. I tell you the house make sure to keep the temperature of whatever it is outside in. I've really been meaning to get weather stripping to place around the doors for a while because there are gaps, but I keep forgetting to go to the hardware store. Oh well, today we most definitely are staying in and just keeping the curtains and blinds clothes to keep the majority of the heat out as best as possible.

I like when summer time comes, but not when you are roasting once you walk outside.. lol

Rough Patches in the Marriage?

In every marriage there is a point where you hit a rough patch, where you feel like you can't be in the same room with your spouse or talk with them. I've been in that position as well and sometimes you get to thinking about the worst that may come within the marriage. I really never thought to looking into relationship coaching in terms of helping out a couple in their marriage or even in any given relationship whether there are rough spots or things going positive, there may be room for improvements even if you may not think so. There is always a way to make it better if you really love the person and won't to make a change for a positive future.
